Seniors Massage
As we age, our bodies change. Muscles, skin, bones and circulation lose vitality and function. A seniors massage (also known medically as “Geriatric Massage Therapy”) is provided by our qualified remedial massage therapists who have a sound understanding of the complexities of these physiological changes and technical skills not known to lesser qualified therapists.
Seniors massages are low friction and light massages to protect the skin. These techniques can enhance blood circulation, combat depression, improve balance and flexibility, reduce the pain associated with arthritis, increase joint mobility, improve posture, and encourage overall wellbeing.
During your Senior’s massage you may choose to have a friction free lotion applied to the skin throughout the massage or you may prefer to keep your clothes on throughout the massage. This is a personal choice and our therapists can work effectively in either situation. If you feel that you may have difficulty laying on a treatment table we also have specially designed massage head rests and massage chairs available for use with our seniors massage – please ask the therapist if this is your preference. Occasionally patients feel more comfortable attending with a friend or family member at their first, or all massage sessions. This is no problems and our reception staff will happily provide a coffee or tea whilst they wait, on request.
